On July 15, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy to Libya Liu Jian met with the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives Aguila Saleh in the eastern Libyan city Qubah.

Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Liu Jian outlined China’s principled position on the Libyan issue, stated that China supports promoting a political solution to the Libyan issue and emphasized the importance of upholding Libya's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. He also expressed hopes to further strengthen practical cooperation with Libya in various fields, thereby promoting greater development of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Speaker Aguila Saleh provided an overview of the current developments in Libya’s political landscape, appreciated China’s strong support to Libya and expressed the hope that China would continue to play a constructive role in advancing a political solution to the Libyan issue. He also encouraged Chinese enterprises to actively engage in Libya’s development and reconstruction efforts, so as to promote sustained progress and new achievements in bilateral cooperation.
