A Brief Introduction to Authentication

1. Procedures

Documents issued in Libya to be used in China, such as Affidavit of Marital Status, Certificate of Employment, Health Certificate, Power of Attorney, Statement, Personal Identification Certificate, Trade Mark Registration, etc. should be authenticated by the Chinese Embassy in Libya before they are sent to China.

We do not notarize any documents directly for aliens. We only authenticate documents which have already been authenticated by Libyan Foreign Ministry.

Procedures are as follows:

1) Documents should first be notarized by a local Notary Public.

2) The notarized document should be authenticated by the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Libya.

3) The Chinese Embassy authenticates the signature of authentication officer and the seal of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Libya.

Please be noticed that documents should be in original shape when submitted. Applicants should not take apart the original documents (notarized or authenticated) or stitch some other pages to the original documents, and should bear all responsibility aroused.

2. Requirements

Applicants are required to submit the following materials to the Chinese Embassy:

1) Original documents to be authenticated;

2) One photocopy of the complete documents to be authenticated. Photocopy of the original document.

3) One legibly and completely filled out Application Form for Authentication or Notarization.

4) In cases of commercial authentication, a copy of the company's license and good standing certificate of the company are also required.

3. Pickup and Fees

Applications can generally be picked up on the fifth working day from the date of submitting.

Authentication fees are 25LD per civil document and 50LD per document regarding property, finance or business.
